Mission To be the leading, innovative extra-curricular program for students in Ontario by creating professional partnerships and experiential learning opportunities that allow students to develop confidence and demonstrate leadership in the business community.
Business ObjectivesThe long-term business objectives of DECA uOttawa are to increase awareness throughout the City of Ottawa and Ontario, to maximize student membership, to strengthen corporate sponsorship, and to encourage direct support of events in the community.
ValuesDECA Ontario operates in accordance with the highest standards in all relationships with members, volunteers, sponsors and the community. DECA fosters a climate that encourages innovation and diligence among advisors and volunteers.
What Does DECA uOttawa Do?We prepare students for DECA U business case competitions held throughout the year. There is no doubt that competition enhances student’s academic wellbeing. In the process you will learn key presentation skills, enhance your ability to think on your feet, and develop powerful ways to deliver creative ideas in a professional, convincing manner.
Practicing cases allows you to showcase your creativity by using a wide variety of strategic elements and economic trends, and encourages you to apply your knowledge in a particular field through developing a strategic solution to real life problems. This experience requires you to keep up-to-date with current economic business trends and allows you to use this information to persuade your case to the judge. Our goal is to promote creativity, enhance your presentation skills, and help you deliver a powerful impression when trying to showcase your ideas.
Not only do we prepare for and participate in business case competitions, we also offer numerous local benefits to our members. From charity events, entertainment events, and professional business events, our executive team works hard to bring you the best experience for joining our club. We create a close knit environment where students are able to make new friends and network with other business students who will be the future leaders of tomorrow.
Why DECA?More and more schools are recognizing DECA as a great way for students to get prepared for ‘the real world’. Students are mentored by our strongest leaders and guided by our most supportive corporate and community sponsors, providing them with the motivation, skills, and education they need to pursue a business career.
Students involved in DECA will have a chance to compete in case competition while meeting new students from their own school and other universities. It is an opportunity for students to further their business interests and meet future co-workers and employers from many industries. We hold great pride in the variety of events that are held throughout the year for our members. Ranging from study sessions to social outings to networking events, we believe that a balance of academics and fun is required.
DECA fearlessly dives into a world beyond textbooks through role-plays, community projects, leadership programs, and international networking. We believe that students will foster confidence, inspiration, leadership character, attitude, and aspiration through joining DECA uOttawa. |
